On the first weekend of November each year BPC hosts The November Talks.
This year our speaker is David Cook, former principal of Sydney Missionary and Bible College. David will be speaking on four ‘sandwiches’ from the book of Mark.
The November Talks will kick off at 1:30pm on Saturday November 5. There will be two sessions on Saturday afternoon separated by afternoon tea and followed by a BBQ dinner. On Sunday we will start at 9am with a BBQ bacon and egg breakfast followed by two sessions with morning tea in the middle and finishing off our teaching weekend with sandwiches (of course) for lunch.
Thanks to a gracious Gospel Community from Southern Cross Pres. there will be an infants/primary program running during the sessions. There is also a creche area for preschoolers.
The talks will be held off BPC campus at Richmond Christian College, Gallans Road off the highway to the North of Ballina heading toward Tweed Heads.
We’d love to see you there.
We are currently working our way through the New Testament book of Hebrews. As you read through this ancient sermon it becomes evident that the unknown author is writing his “word of exhortation” for two reasons: (i) His readers are living in a world becoming increasingly more hostile to Jesus and His followers, (ii) apathy has seeped into the church community. In chapter 12 the author says that the church has not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood with the inference that there is opposition but it has not yet escalated to physical violence – that will come. In chapter 6 the author expresses disappointment that his readers have not grown in their faith, they are still on milk when he expected that they would be into the meat. Opposition and half heartedness at work in the early church and causing them to lose confidence in or take their eyes off Jesus. Nothing much has changed in the past 2000 years, the two persistent enemies of the church continue to be wrong response to opposition and a tendancy to half heartedness while the persistent goal is to persevere in our faith in Jesus. The only way forward says the author of Hebrews is to get the authentic picture of Jesus. If you are finding to hard to persevere then maybe your (understanding of) Jesus is too small.Maybe the Jesus you have in mind s closer to our bobble headed friend below rather than the reigning Lord and King above.

How Big is Your Jesus?
